Rat's Nest is an opening mission handed to the player from Handshake. It requires finding two bandit hideouts and retrieving items and bringing them back for Handshake.

Task: Rat's Nest
Objective: Retrieve intel from the hideout and report back to Handshake.
Gather intelligence from the hideout in the east part of town.
Retrieve intel from the hideout and report back to Handshake.
Gather intelligence from the hideout in the northwest part of town.
Rewards: Patrol backpack, $3600, 400 XP, and 100 Vendor Reputation.
Hideout #1 - Convict's Notepad
You will find this Hideout between Town Hall and Gas Station. Red graffiti can be spotted on the outside of the building which, much like the blood splatters, is a signal of a objective location.
The Convict's Notepad is on a desk and can be picked up. Place it in your SafeLock box for safe keeping incase you perish on your way back to Base Camp.
Hideout #2 - Thug's Smartphone
The second Hideout location is close to the Water Tower section of the starting town. Head inside the building in the image above and go upstairs. You will see a smartphone on the desk. Pick it up and place it in your SafeLock for safe keeping.
Once you have visited both Hideouts and gathered both items you will need to fly back to Base Camp and hand them over to Handshake.
Handshake will send you a Patrol rucksack, $3600, 400 XP, and 100 Vendor Reputation for completing this Task in Gray Zone Warfare.
