The Game Awards kicks off later this week. Modern Warfare II has been nominated for 3 awards this year. Will they win?

On December 8, Geoff Keighley will once again grace our screens for the Game Awards 2022. There has been plenty of great games that look set to clean up at the awards ceremony this year (we're looking at you God of War Ragnarok).

Call of Duty Modern Warfare II has been nominated for 3 awards.

  • Best Multiplayer

  • Best Action Game

  • Best Audio Design (lol. yes, really)

As usual the event will be live streamed across basically every single platform. Twitch, YouTube and Twitter to name the big ones. It is of course free to watch and usually has some pretty big reveals, Netflix's League of Legends animated show 'Arcane' season 2 looks like it could get a trailer at the event.

So thats the 'where' covered, what about the 'when'? If, like us, you live in Europe its going to be a late night for you as the event is streaming prime time America time. from 16:30 PT. Ouch.

The Competition

For Best Multiplayer Modern Warfare II has to face down fierce competition from MultiVerse, Overwatch 2, Splatoon 3 and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge.

Nominations for the Audio Design award include Elden Ring, God of War Ragnarok, Gran Turismo 7 and Horizon Forbidden West. This is a tough group of nominations for Activision to face off against.

The final category Modern Warfare II has been nominated for is Best Action Game. Infinity Ward will need to beat off Bayonetta 3, Neon White, Sifu and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge to pick up this action based trophy.

Call of Duty doesn't tend to clean up at Award shows and as we previously stated this year there is some really stiff competition out there and God of War Ragnarok looks set to take the lot. We shall see, although we won't be staying up all night to watch it in Europe. We'll watch it over a cup of coffee the next day.
