Remastered Gears of War Collection Testing Underway according to Rumors

| GNG Gaming News | Published: January 14, 2024 |

Gears of War video game series, developed by Epic Games and later The Coalition, is a renowned third-person shooter franchise set in a gritty, war-torn science fiction universe. First debuting in 2006 as an Xbox Exclusive, it quickly became an Xbox fan-favourite to compete with the likes of Halo.

The series is best known for its intense, cover-based combat against the monstrous Locust Horde living in the depths of the planet. One of the most iconic features of Gears of War was the chainsaw bayonet that players could cut through enemies.

It has been quite a few years since an original Gears of War game released, the last one being GoW 5 back in 2019 which has left fans eagerly awaiting the next installment. Reportedly the next release will be the Gears of War Collection - a remastering of the classic games much like the Halo: Master Chief Collection.

The existence and development of the Gears of War Collection originally leaked back in 2022 but recent rumours suggest that it is nearly complete and ready to ship. Allegedly, The Coalition, the studio behind the more recent entries is now testing the Collection and ironing out any final bugs. That suggests the remastered bundle is nearly ready to ship.

This updated version of the gritty shooter is presumed to have been done utilizing the pure power of Unreal Engine 5 and is said to include Gears of War 1, 2, 3, 4 and the spin-off Judgement.

There are no official details or release dates for the Gears of War Collection but it is now entering the final stages so an announcement and release schedule is expected very soon.
