Overwatch 2 Release Date Confirmed.

Updated: Jan 1, 2023

Overwatch 2 has seeminly had a pretty rocky time during its production but we finally have a date for its release and its going to be Free to Play.

Blizzard has announced a release date for Overwatch 2. It is heading to early access on the 4th October 2022 and will be a Free to Play game available on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and of course PC.

The release will contain new dynamic PVP content with new maps, new heroes and modes said to be added into the mix. As it is a free to play game you can expect a heavy amount of purchasable skins. The game will also offer cross-platform play and progression.

Junker Queen enters the arena as the first new hero expected to be in the game at launch. She is a ruthless Australian-born ruler of Junkertown who appears to be a kind of gun slash melee hero with various spinning attacks.

Push "a symmetrical map type where teams battle to take control and advance a centrally-located robot deeper into enemy territory than the opposing team".

New maps include New Queen Street which is set in Toronto Canada and Midtown Manhattan that plays out to a New York backdrop. Along with the new maps comes a new game mode called Push "a symmetrical map type where teams battle to take control and advance a centrally-located robot deeper into enemy territory than the opposing team".

Expect more news about Overwatch 2 during Blizzards reveal livestream on Thursday 16th June 6pm UK time where they will share more details on the games live-service model and seasonal content plan.
