NEW BLIZZARD SURVIVAL GAME COULD BE ANNOUNCED AT BLIZZCON 2023?

It's not very often we get a new IP from Blizzard Entertainment, but it might be time.

Blizzard Entertainment are working on a new IP. A Survival game that has been in development for nearly 6 years. The project, currently referred to as 'Unannounced Survival Game' is being led by Craig Amai who previously worked on World of Warcraft. Now, this isn't really news, but we speculate that this new game could be officially revealed at BlizzCon 2023.

Leaks and information have been kept remarkably in check with this title. There isn't much (although, there is some) intel online other than what has been shared officially by Blizzard Entertainment.

What we know so far

"Unannounced Survival Game" is a survival MMO game, like Valheim or Ark. Players gather, build, fight and survive in harsh conditions in the name of fun. The game has been in development since July 2017 with former World of Warcraft Senior GM Craig Amai at the helm.

"I've played many hours of this project with the team and I'm incredibly excited about the teams vision and the brand-new world it presents for players to immerse themselves in together." - Mike Ybarra, President Blizzard Entertainment.

Although the game has been in development for 5 years and 5 months it was only in January of 2022 that Blizzard Entertainment began hiring the full force of developers for this title, which is a good sign. It means that the blueprints of the game are done and now the fancy artists can come in and make the game look appealing and polish it off.

Thanks to Blizzard Entertainment's President, Mike Ybarra, we know the game is in a playable state. He tweeted out saying "I've played many hours of this project with the team and I'm incredibly excited about the teams vision and the brand-new world it presents for players to immerse themselves in together." in a post from earlier this year looking for talented designers and artists to finish the game off. It is safe to say that these positions are long since filled and the game has had a full year of development.

Lets talk about leaks. We know we said that information about this game was limited and that there had been remarkably little intel about the game but there are some leaks floating around the internet, of course we have to slap a disclaimer here. All leaks must be taken with a pinch of salt. This is not official information by any means. These leaks come from someone who has allegedly seen the game being played and have shared what they saw.

Leaked Information:

• Codenamed 'Odyssey'.

• Looks like 'Everwild'.

• Fairy tale survival game with building mechanics.

• Players can sell what they craft.

• Some complex fantasy machines (alchemy)

• Aesthetics similar to Fable Legends.

• Traditional survival game, first-person.

• Traditional weapons like Bow and Arrows with lots of Magic.

Now, we know what you are thinking. This is a story from January 2022, this isn't news. BlizzCon is returning on 24 February 2023. We think it is highly likely that there will be some kind of reveal for this title along side the usual World of Warcraft, Diablo and Overwatch announcements.

BlizzCon 2023 is less than 2 months away so we won't have long to wait. We really do hope this game gets officially revealed at the event.
