Modern Warfare II and Zombies

We don't know a lot about Modern Warfare II yet but a couple of things have been confirmed to not feature in the upcoming title. Zombies being one of them.

What do we know?

As it stands, we don’t know very much about Modern Warfare 2 at all. But there are a few things that have been confirmed to NOT be included in the upcoming game for the Call of Duty franchise. Zombies. It was confirmed that Modern Warfare 2 will not contain a zombie’s game mode at all. Which means that fans might have to wait over two years, if certain rumours are true.

The Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies mode has gone down badly with fans. It is really lacking a decent and engaging story and the content has been extremely sparse. Unfortunately, it looks like players will have to wait until Treyarch’s next title before they get a fresh content in the classic beloved mode.

That’s not to say that Vanguard has finished its life cycle of content of course, we are expecting at least a few more maps from them but when and where they will release is still unknown.

What's next for zombies?

Treyarch explained recently that the next map released for Vanguard will be a round-based zombies experience, just like veteran fans are accustomed to. Which has given fans something to look forward to, but again, we haven’t heard anything else about it.

So, what does the future look like for Zombies. We know that Modern Warfare 2 comes out October 28th, 2022. If Activision sticks with its predictable yearly cycle of games, we can expect Treyarch’s next game to release late 2023. That’s about 14 months from now.

Speculation and Rumours

There are rumblings and rumours circulating that ATV is scrapping the year life cycle in favour of two years. That means that Treyarch may not be back until 2024. Meaning a Zombies return could be a whopping two years away. As it stands the change in life span of Call of Duty has not been confirmed and there is hope that Vanguard starts to offer up some exciting new content for the hardcore-zombie’s players out there. It could be that Treyarch also start shipping out new maps for older games like Cold War and Vanguard whilst Modern Warfare II is live as well to appease the fans.
