Today we are taking a look at all the information we currently have with regards to the Weapon Vault in Modern Warfare 2.
What is the Weapon Vault and what does it mean for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2? Honestly, as it stands, we know very little about this new type of Blueprint that is coming to the game. It would appear from the images we have seen from the pre-orders that it’ll offer a blueprint where any attachment can be added without compromising the style of the weapon.
In previous years weapon blueprints only kept their appearance with set attachments. If the player replaced the barrel or grip for example the aesthetics of the skin would be lost, which some found incredibly frustrating after forking out top dollar for the latest bundle.
"This is an extremely rare style of weapon blueprint category. More details to come."
@TheGhostOfHope, who is popular on twitter for Call of Duty leaks, tweeted "I believe "weapon vaults" with Modern Warfare II will be the replacement to mastercrafts and the answer to peoples criticisms surrounding losing the look of a blueprint because you change one attachment."
This prompted a reply from Joel Emslie, Infinity Ward's, Studio Art Director. His response "This is an extremely rare style of weapon blueprint category. More details to come." which, of course, in true Infinity Ward style is cryptic and evasive. It is interesting that these styles of blueprints will be 'extremely rare' and makes us wonder exactly how they'll be obtained. Does this simply mean "They'll be expensive as fuck, my guy" or perhaps some kind of reward for Warzone wins or large milestones.
We will post again about the Weapon Vault when we find out more information. There are various large gaming events coming up that we are sure will have Infinity Ward and Raven in attendance and more info will be available.
