Netflix has announced that Matrix star Laurence Fishburne will join the cast of The Witcher in the upcoming Season 4. Fishburne will play Emiel Regis Rohellec Terzieff-Godefroy, or simply Regis as his friends know him in the next Season of the Video Game turned TV Show adaptation.

Regis is a powerful higher vampire who played a key role in the Andrzej Sapkowski's Witcher novels. The character's youth was spent overindulging in a drinking human blood which led to all sorts of ill behaviour.

He finally changed his ways after a run in with some local peasants left him grievously wounded. By the time Regis meets Geralt in the Baptism of Fire novel, he is a quiet, reserved man, highly regarded for his skills as a barber and surgeon.

"I’m very excited to be joining the cast and look forward to exploring the wondrous world of The Witcher," - Laurence Fishburne

Fishburne joins The Witcher universe at a time of transition as actor Henry Cavil who has played Geralt in all 3 seasons so far steps aside and lets Liam Hemsworth take over the role.

There is no release date for The Witcher Season 4 at the moment but Netflix has provided us with a description on what fans can expect in the upcoming season.

After the shocking, Continent-altering events that close out season three, the new season follows Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri who are faced with traversing the war-ravaged Continent and its many demons apart from each other.  If they can embrace and lead the groups of misfits they find themselves in,  they have a chance of surviving the baptism of fire — and finding one another again.

Season 4 is the beginning of what fans of the books will know as Hanza, the group that travels with Geralt for the rest of the books according to showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich.

This becomes Geralt's newfound family. He begins to realize that he needs help to get Yennefer and Ciri back, and when you need to help, you actually have to give of yourself as well. So, we start to watch the Hanza build and start to see that there are some amazing emotional connections to come there as well.

The Witcher Season 4 is expected some time in 2024 or early 2025 but there is no official word as of yet.
