Everything We Know About Battlefield 6's Battle Royale Mode

Updated: 4 days ago

Battlefield 6 has officially been revealed. It's time to round up everything we know about the Battle Royale mode that is reportedly coming with the next game in the franchise. This mode is expected to launch later this year.

Overview of Battlefield 6's Battle Royale Mode

The upcoming Battlefield 6 is set to include a Battle Royale mode. Several details have emerged from leaks and datamining efforts, primarily through EA's Battlefield Labs playtesting program. Here’s a summary of what is known so far about the Battle Royale mode based on available information.

Free-to-Play Standalone Experience

The Battle Royale mode is rumoured to be a free-to-play standalone game. It will be separate from the main Battlefield 6 title, similar to Call of Duty: Warzone. This mode may launch months after the main game, which is rumoured to release on October 10th, 2025.

Setting and Maps

The mode is allegedly set in a modern-day context. One map could be a remastered version of Operation Firestorm from Battlefield 3 and 4, located in Turkmenistan. This map features an expanded environment integrated with the main game’s narrative of NATO vs. Pax Armata. Players will control elite units securing a secret R&D facility from private military contractors (PMCs).

Another map based in California is also mentioned. This map features a "destructive ring" that shrinks the play area, adding to the intensity of the gameplay.

Gameplay Mechanics

Similar to other Battle Royale games, players will likely drop into a combat zone. They will loot gear and survive as a collapsing "NXC flamefront" or "Firestorm Ring" closes in. The last squad standing will win the match.

The mode reportedly includes both PvP and PvE missions. Players can engage in activities such as eliminating squads, securing objectives, or targeting high-value targets. Rewards for completing these missions include field upgrades, weapon customization kits, and vehicle access keycards. Other squads can undertake counter-missions to steal rewards.

Vehicles and Combat

Vehicles are allegedly central to the mode. Players will have access to various vehicles, including jeeps, trucks, armoured vehicles, tanks, and helicopters. To use these vehicles, players must find vehicle keycards at specific container sites. They will need to defend these vehicles during deployment. Tanks will have limited fuel and ammo, which can be earned through completing multiple contracts in a match.

Unique Features

A leaked unique feature allows eliminated players to assist their squad. They can control drones, turrets, or cameras via Oversight Terminals. Drones can tag or attack enemies, adding a strategic layer post-elimination.

Limited respawns will be available. A free redeployment will occur early in the match upon elimination. Squads can also redeploy teammates using field upgrades or respawn towers, similar to Fortnite.

Development and Future Updates

Ripple Effect is leading the development of the alleged Battle Royale mode. Meanwhile, DICE is focusing on the multiplayer component of Battlefield 6. The mode aims to differentiate itself from competitors like Warzone with features like the Oversight System and vehicle-focused gameplay.

Dataminer 'Temporyal' has been a key source of information. They uncovered details and a brief introductory cutscene showing helicopters entering the battle. However, this clip was removed due to a copyright claim. Leaked footage also highlights destructible environments and a modern setting.

Upcoming Announcements

Battlefield 6 Multiplayer will be revealed on July 29th. The free-to-play Battle Royale mode is expected to be announced around the same time. Current leaks suggest that BF6 will launch on October 10th, 2025, but this remains unconfirmed at this time.
